In an extraordinary demonstration of valour and unwavering resolve, the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF), in partnership with the Indian Army and Ministry of Tourism concluded the expedition of 'Fit@50+ Summits and Steering Wheels’ on October 28 (Saturday).

Nagpur: The women-only group of highly experienced mountaineers currently on a trans-Himalayan trek, celebrated one month of their trip a few days ago at the West Bengal-Nepal border. The ‘Fit@50’ group halted at Sandakphu, at 12,500 feet, which marks the beginning of the tougher phase of their trek that is scheduled to end in mid-August.

The first Indian woman to conquer world's highest summit Mount Everest, Bachendri Pal will lead a 10-member team of women aged above 50 in a five-month long expedition from eastern to western Himalaya beginning in May.
The four to scale the world’s highest peak are Umakant Madavi (19), Parmesh Aale (19), Manisha Dhurve (18), and Kavidas Katmode (18). Katmode and Madavi reached the summit at 3.25am. Aale and Dhurve followed at 4.25am and 4.35am respectively.
They are the first tribal students from India to have scaled Mount Everest. As earlier reported by The Indian Express, these students hadn’t even heard of Mount Everest before they were approached by the authorities with the idea.
